At AJ, there were plenty of Scout Groups from across Australia and the World, but what about our Scouts that don’t live near a group? Well, that’s where Lone Scouts comes in! These are Scouts that either live remotely, live or attend boarding school internationally or are unable to attend their local Scout Group for a variety of reasons, but are still able to do Scouting! They can work towards their peak award through a variety of methods including the radio and internet, with some changes to suit their situation. Let’s not forget that Lone Scouts are also able to attend camps with nearby groups and national events such as AJ2025!
During Future Scout Day, the Lone Scouts and Leaders at AJ2025 were given the opportunity to catch up with each other. This gave Scouts the chance to meet others like them and even swap some badges. Leaders were able to network, planning camps and activities with each other to give their Scouts the best time possible.
They travelled to Maryborough from all over Australia including places such as Cowra (NSW), Mt Gambier (SA) and even a Scout and Leader duo travelling from a remote community in the center of WA. Lone Scouts at AJ2025 had the time of their life! “I’ve been able to meet lots of new people as I have been put in a unit that has no one that I know.” Jaxon C075
